Traditional cuisine and its flavours

The traditional cuisine of Silvi, like the surrounding area, is rich and varied. On the coast, enogastronomy e is influenced by seafaring, offering a great variety of fish and seafood dishes, including spaghetti with clams, roast fish and fries. The typical local dish is the famous mixed fish soup called Brodetto di Pesce.

Moving towards the hill, you will come across simple but flavourful dishes linked to the agricultural and pastoral tradition (such as arrosticini – lamb meat skewers), with a wid choice of land products, including liquorice, meat and excellent local wines.

Aged cheeses such as pecorino, extra virgin olive oil, cured meats and vegetables are just some of the excellent local products that you can taste in Silvi, together with a good glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine, which is an excellence in internationally, or a lovely fresh Trebbiano suitable for fish dishes.

Furthermore, in Silvi, as in the whole Abruzzo region, every festivity of the year is accompanied by particular homemade desserts, such as the Christmas calcionetti and the Pizza di Pasqua, excellent to be enjoyed with a good straw wine.
